The reason why I started to produce nude art is mundane: basically an abstract painter, I wanted to broaden my scope and venture into the realm of figurative art. If you're used to the freedom and imagination of abstract art, it's hard to get into subjects such as still lives and other inanimate objects, potentially boring a painter to death. When trying to find a more amusing subject, one doesn't have to look far, considering the long and rich tradition that painted nude art has. Through the ages beautiful women have adorned the canvases of famous artists, from Rubens to Modigliani. In fact, the sexy girls that Modigliani used as models were painted in a way that is very similar to the way we perceive nude art and sensuality today, and therefore Modigliani has been a great source of inspiration to this artist, but rather in style than in method, because as mentioned, it was my intention to paint sexy girls in a figurative setting, while Modigliani's nude art bordered abstraction.
